We booked a 4-hour boat excursion for 11 of our family members—ranging in age from 6 to 66—and it was hands-down the absolute highlight of our entire vacation. Our itinerary was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation, starting with incredible snorkeling out at the vibrant coral reefs and ending with a beautiful, relaxing swim at the sandbar. What truly made this trip spectacular, though, was our incredible crew. Captain Kathy and Captain Karen were an absolute dream team. Navigating a large group with such a wide age gap can sometimes be a challenge, but they handled our family with the utmost patience and care. They were incredibly helpful with the younger kids getting their snorkel gear on, attentive to the older adults, and completely full of fascinating local information about the marine life and the islands. They made everyone feel safe, comfortable, and entertained from the moment we stepped on board. Sunshine22300426439May 20, 2026Unforgettable family trip – absolute recommendation! We booked the 2-hour Eco-Tour with Family Fun Boat and it was the highlight of our trip in the Keys! The stop at the sandbar was amazing, and our kids (and us) absolutely loved it. Our guide Kathy was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and great with the children. A quick, heartwarming story that shows how awesome she was: When our daughter accidentally dropped a bag of cookies into the water, our guide didn't hesitate for a second. She immediately turned the boat around so we could fish the bag out of the water. Great environmental awareness and super quick thinking! We were able to easily arrange an appointment and then simply enjoy ourselves. It was fun for all of us (a family with two children, ages 3 and 7). Both children and their parents went snorkeling.

There is no better way to see this area of the Keys than by boat, but having a fun, kind and knowledgeable captain at the helm made it that much better. She was great with our teens too - they were so engaged (no cell phones the entire time!!) The cherry on top is that we had an email the next day containing all the pictures she captured of our family on the trip - including when we were all in the water - for which we are so appreciative. KateApril 19, 2026The Perfect “Design Your Own” Family Boat Adventure We had an absolutely wonderful experience with Family Fun Boat Experiences, thanks to our fantastic guide Heidi. She brought such fun, energy, and adventure to the day and truly connected with our 13 year old granddaughter. This was the best kind of tour. Completely “design your own.” We shared what we were interested in, and Heidi made it all happen at a relaxed, comfortable pace. We enjoyed a great snorkeling experience, saw dolphins swimming behind the boat, manatees, and so many birds and fish, and even learned how to read patterns in the water. Along the way, Heidi shared fascinating stories about the Keys, including the islands, homes, canals, and hurricanes. She seemed to know people everywhere we went, which gave the whole trip a wonderful local feel, almost like a mini history tour on the water. She is a wealth of knowledge, incredibly engaging, and even surprised us with an extra touch that made the day feel special. A delightful, memorable experience from start to finish. Even though the weather wasn't completely on our side, Kathy and Heidi truly went above and beyond to make sure our time on the water was the best it could possibly be. One completely unintentional and unexpected highlight was getting to interact with dolphins as they swam right around our boat. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Kathy immediately recognized how special this moment could be for us and she made sure to capitalize on it in a way only a true captain could. She made sure we got the opportunity to fully take this in...something we will never forget! From start to finish, they were thoughtful, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. Every detail was considered, and they took such great care to make sure the kids had the absolute best time. It was clear how much they genuinely care about creating meaningful, memorable experiences for families. We couldn't recommend Family Fun Boat Tour Co more highly. Melody M.May 27, 2025We stumbled upon this boat company after searching for companies that might be more appropriate for our 3.5 year old. I worried she wouldn't be up for the half day tours many companies offer. I called and spoke to Kathy who immediately said they could customize a trip that worked for us. We chose a two hour tour. Heidi was our guide and she was absolutely wonderful! She was incredibly patient with our daughter, who didn't mind the mask and snorkel but was actually only interested in being in the water a bit. Heidi let her hang out on the boat while my husband and I stayed in the water a bit longer. Then she took us to a sandbar where our daughter hunted for shells. Our guide, Heidi, was exceptional. She tailored our tour so we could see and do everything we wanted to. Her advice and recommendations on other activities on the Keys and surrounding areas was very helpful. We didn't have a lot of time, so we only did a 2 hour tour, but we sure wish we would have been able to go for longer. Robert J.January 23, 2024We had an amazing time on our Family Fun Boat Tour. Captain Kathy was the best. She knew just what we wanted to see and experience and made sure to deliver. Dolphins, manatees, Alligator Reef lighthouse, an amazing number of birds ,flying, fishing and nesting just to mention a few wonders! She was as incredible source of local history as well as an expert on regional floral and fauna. She explained how the botanical wonder, The Mangrove, thrives in salt water as well as the history of the Alligator Reef lighthouse and the devastation caused by the 1935 hurricane. In addition we checked out where the Netflix show Bloodlines was filmed and had hot cocoa served up when it got a bit chilly. What an eclectic guide! But we got so much more! Kathy took us snorkeling, she hit sunset perfectly, and we even got lucky and spotted dolphins. Spotting dolphins, though, wasn’t enough for her. Once we found the dolphins, she circled around, creating a wake for them to play in. We had a blast and it sure looked like the dolphins did too! And the snorkeling was incredible - she found the perfect spot and gave us as much time as we needed.
